With all the recent news about data breaches and unethical data sharing that has been going on with Facebook, elections and hackers plus the impending GDPR rules in the EU, we wanted to open up about how Pedalers treats your personal information. In simple terms, we treat it like it was our own personal information.
Pedalers gathers your personal data through various forms on our website, mailing list sign up forms, contact forms and our trip booking & questionnaire forms. The information from all of these forms (as well as the entirety of our website) travels between your browser and our webserver using secure TLS encryption making interception of data difficult when you are submitting the form. Some portions of the form data are saved on our company intranet for use in generating guide notes and sales follow ups. And some portions of the data are saved on our webserver to allow you to update your Guest Questionnaires. But no sensitive information, such as credit card details, passport numbers, etc are stored on any of Pedaler's internet accessible servers.
Pedalers does not provide any of your data that we collected to any outside parties. This right to privacy extends to everything we do and is sometimes a disappointment to prospective guests, as we do not share previous guest contact info as referrals. The few exceptions to this rule are for: payment processing, as we have to share address and card details to process the charge from your online booking; for visa processing (Bhutan tours only); for government issued travel permits (Tibet, Laos, Vietnam, Madagascar).
To better tailor our website and tour offerings to you, our customers, we use Google Analytics to collect information on how visitors navigate our website. Cookies are used to collect aggregated data that allows us to see the origins of web traffic, amount of visitors, visitors’ operating systems, browser types, etc. This data does not personally identify you in any way. You can choose not to accept cookies by disabling them in the settings of your web browser.
We maintain three mail lists for news and other such mailings: our newsletter, past guests and press. Our newsletter list for The Bucket List news obtains address ONLY from the sign up forms on our website. We don't add email addresses from any other sources. The newsletter is sent out several time a year and each edition has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, which will automatically and immediately remove you from the list. The past guest list is used solely to send out program announcements applicable only to past guests, such as returning rider discounts, etc. The list is compiled from booking forms and has the same unsubscribe options described above. Our Press List is for new tour announcements and has been compiled from a variety of sources. It also has the same unsubscribe options.
In compliance with the upcoming GDPR rules, Pedalers, offers upon request, the option to have all of your data removed from our databases. While the GDPR rules apply to residents of the EU only, we are extending the removal privilege to all of our customers wherever they may reside. To request removal from our databases please contact us. We will need your full name and email addresses (including older ones you may have used) to ascertain we are completely removing the correct individual.
Feel free to contact us if you wish further clarification on our privacy and data policies.
