What Makes the Journey Different
Some cycling trips in French Polynesia use a cruise ship as their base, returning guests to the ship after short rides ashore. Pedalers takes the opposite approach: guests stay on the islands, bicycles travel with them, and local ferries become part of the journey.
That approach also creates time on Huahine and Raiatea as well as better-known Moorea and Bora Bora. Cycling links archaeological sites and lagoons with traditional fish traps, working villages, copra drying racks and everyday island travel rather than treating each island simply as a scenic excursion.

Island Hopping Without the Cruise Ship
Guests sleep ashore and use local ferries rather than repeatedly returning to a cruise ship. The ferry journeys place travelers alongside Polynesians moving between islands for ordinary family, business and daily-life reasons.
French Polynesia Beyond the Postcard
The lagoons and volcanic peaks remain part of the landscape, but bicycle travel also brings riders past marae, stone fish traps, village shops, copra racks and working island communities.
Four Islands at Bicycle Speed
Moorea, Huahine, Raiatea and Bora Bora share a Polynesian setting but reveal noticeably different landscapes and rhythms. Cycling is fast enough to explore an island and slow enough for unplanned stops along the way.
Across the Society Islands
- Moorea - 59 km: Ride a full circuit through coastal villages and coconut groves, with an optional inland extension to Marae Titiroa and the Belvedere Overlook.
- Huahine - 25 km: Cycle beside Lake Fa'una Nui, visit Marae Manunu and traditional stone fish traps, then continue to Huahine-Iti.
- Huahine-Iti: A free day allows time for snorkeling, swimming, independent riding or optional lagoon activities.
- Raiatea - 51 km: Follow quiet northern and eastern roads toward Opoa Bay, including paved roads, coral-sand stretches and glimpses of the island's copra trade.
- Raiatea to Bora Bora - 54 km: Ride toward Uturoa with a visit to Marae Taputapuatea before boarding the ferry to Bora Bora.
- Bora Bora - 31 km: Finish with a relaxed island circuit through villages and lagoon viewpoints.
How Pedalers Runs the Trip
Guides: A bilingual Pedalers guide team travels with the group through the islands, managing the riding, bicycles and inter-island logistics while helping guests understand the cultural sites and communities encountered along the way.
Bicycles: Bicycles are provided for the journey and travel between islands with the group. Route information also allows independent riding during selected free periods.
Island logistics: Pedalers arranges the ferry crossings and coordinates baggage movement between accommodations on each island. The Moorea ferry and Apetahi Express are part of the travel experience rather than merely background transfers.
Accommodation: Guests stay ashore in smaller hotels and island resorts on the islands being visited rather than returning to a ship each evening.
Food: Polynesian food combines island traditions and French influence, with fresh tuna and lagoon fish, tropical fruit and vegetables, and French-influenced cooking. Selected dinners are included, while other evenings remain open for guests to choose among local restaurants and different dining styles.
